Name: LATE 19TH CENTURY BIRA-BIRA びらびら KANZASHI 簪 HAIR ORNAMENT SET

Description: Japanese Meiji Period (late 19th century) BIRA-BIRA KANZASHI びらびら簪, dangling hair ornament set. The set conists of 2 sets of matching KANZASHI 簪 and 1 double sided KANZASHI. One set has a phoenix and pawlonia leaves and blossoms done in gold and silver toned metal with BIRA-BIRA done in silver links with coral beads with silver bells on each end. This set measures 10 1/2" with BIRA-BIRA 4" long. The second set has detachable tops done in gold and silver toned metal with a small hand-held drum and plum blossoms with BIRA-BIRA in silver toned links, coral beads and silver bells on each end. These measure 10" long with 4" dangling BIRA-BIRA. The double sided KANZASHI is also done in gold and silver toned metals with each end in the design of a circular bird cage with a nightengale in each cage, covered with coral centered blossoms. This measures 12" long and the BIRA-BIRA hangs 3 1/2" down. (norusu)
