Name: IMAGINATIVE DARUMA FIGURE

Description: Japanese natural root imaginative figure of DARUMA. Symbol of strength. Calligraphy of Daruma philosophy is carved into one side of the figure. This carving was done by SUIJU in the year of the rat, in Showa 11, or 1936. Inscribed on bottom in red lacquer, JUBOKU, perhaps original collector. Inscription of explanation of the form and why artist related it to Daruma. Dated month of March in Meiji 41, or 1908. The DARUMA stands 8" tall, 6" wide and 2 1/2" thick.
