Description: Japanese Late Edo or Early Meiji Period KOBON, incense tray. The tray is done with a natural wood finish with lacquered design, rim and back. The tray is done in a dark brownish colored black lacquer with chrysanthemum design done in gold MAKIE and NASHIJI lacquer technique. The natural wood tray surface is designed in gold lacquer with weeping willow leaves and dark brownish black lacquered swallows. The back is done by wrapping with a gauze like fabric and then lacquering over it.
