For nearly four decades, Kazuo Kuwabara, the sole proprietor of Oriental Treasure Box, has been in the business of acquiring and selling fine Japanese traditional art crafts and works of art. He opened his first store, in the autumn of 1984, in downtown San Diego's Olde Cracker Factory Building. He thrived and expanded there for the next 22 years. In the summer of 2006 he moved his business to a gallery in the eclectic neighborhood of Ocean Beach on Newport Avenue. Five years on, in the summer of 2011, he relocated to San Diego's Little Italy on Kettner Blvd. In the fall of 2018 he moved his store to Vickers Street in Kearny Mesa, an area that has emerged as the center for Asian businesses in San Diego.

In 2021 he closed his retail gallery and moved to a new Kearny Mesa location to concentrate on his exhibition & art show endeavors, as well as to increase his website offerings. He will continue to offer limited in person viewings of his collection, but in a by-appointment-only showroom.

In addition to fine Japanese traditional art crafts, his inventory includes the works of many of Japan's finest traditional and modern artists, personally selected by Kazuo, who travels to Japan many times a year to find more treasures to add to his collection.

He continues to exhibit at fine art and Asian art shows around the U.S. and in Japan. Please look at our show schedule to see if we will be exhibiting somewhere near you.
