Name: JAPANESE TENMOKU TEA BOWL BY KIMURA MORIYASU
SOLD

Description: Japanese Tenmoku ware tea bowl by KIMURA MORIYASU. KIMURA was born in 1935 and studied at the Kyoto Ceramics Reasearch facility, as did famous potters HAMADA SHOJI and KAWAI KANJIRO. He also studied with his brother, the famous KIMURA MORIKAZU. He is known for his use of crawling and oil spot glazes. He exhibits at the Gendai Nihon Togetiten and Nihon Dento Kogeitsn, among others. He has been awarded the Kyoto Prefectural Order of Cultural Merit in 2004. His works are in the permanent collections of the British Museum, The Boston and Dallas Museums and the collection at Ise Shrine to name just a few. The bowl measures 3 5/16" tall and 4 3/4" in diameter. Comes with TOMOBAKO, or original artist signed wooden storage box.
