Name: Japanese Hammered Iron Zogan Inlaid Vase by Kashima Kazuo (b.1958)

Description: Japanese hand hammered iron vase with zogan 象嵌 (metal inlay) gold & silver design of interlaid diamond pattern. The bowl form vase has an applied rim of silver. The interior of the vessel is lacquered in red & black.
The vase is by artist Kashima Kazuo (born 1958) from the Taito ward of Tokyo, Japan. He studied under his grandfather, Living National Treasure (Ningen Kokuhō 人間国宝) Kashima Ikkoku.

The vase comes with tomobako 共箱 (original artist signed wooden storage box) and tomogire 共布 (original wrapping cloth with artist mark).

Measurements as noted below.

In 1980 Kazuo exhibited for the first time in the Japan Traditional Metal Exhibition.
In 1981 he exhibited in the Traditional Crafts New Works Exhibition and for the first time in the Nihon Dentō Kōgei-ten 日本伝統工芸展 (Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition).
In 2010 he opened his own gallery.
