Name: Japanese Cast Rōgin Vase by Living National Treasure Takamura Toyochika (1890-1972)

Description: LAST WORK BY TAKAMURA TOYOCHIKA:
Japanese Showa period rōgin 朧銀 (silver & copper alloy like shibuichi 四分一) cast metal vase by Living National Treasure (人間国宝 Ningen Kokuhō) Takamura Toyochika 高村豊周 (1890-1972).

Globular disc form with obi design raised ridges around circumference, and oil-spot finish.

Raised, cast mark on bottom of vase, and red ink chop mark (豊周 Toyochika) on inside lid of box. Box also has signature and chop of authenticator Nishi Daiyū 西大由 (1923-2013).

Comes with tomobako 共箱 (original artist signed wooden storage box).

Box inscription by his student Nishi Daiyū 西大由(1923-2013), dated spring Showa 48 (spring 1973), on the inside lid of the box states this piece was the last work of Toyochika, produced before his death in 1972. Toyochika placed just his chop mark on the box before his death, and Daiyū wanted to make note of this and describe the piece, to make the history clear.

Toyochika was an acclaimed metal artist who exhibited at numerous exhibitions including the Nitten.
