Name: JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD MAKUZU KOZAN I PAIR OF YIN/YANG VASES

Description: Japanese Meiji Period pair of Yin/Yang design vases by studio artist, MAKUZU KOZAN I. The wonderful pair of vases are done with Yin and Yang opposites design of moon and sun, white and black. The moon is suggested with the outline done is black and the sun is done in red. The vases have the design of black crows and white egrets flying in a forest of bamboo trees. The top and bottom of each vase is decorated with the AMI-ME design, a net design done in white slip glaze over the pale green glaze. Each vase is signed MAKUZU GAMA, KOZAN ZOU, meaning made by Kozan at the Makuzu kilns. Each vase measures 14 1/8" tall and 7 1/2" in diameter at the widest. (dorususu)
