Description: |
Japanese 20th century viewing stone on custom wooden stand. The natural stone has a form that resembles a miniature island formation. This type of stone is called FURUYA-ISHI. The stone is natural and the stand was custom made for the stone sometime in the 20th century. The stone is from Wakayama Prefecture, Akitsu River and Tenryu Canyon. On the bottom of the stand is attached a business card of Mr. Kyakusui Tanimoto who was apparently a representative of the Japan Viewing Stone Research Association. The stone and stand measure 5 1/2" tall, 10 1/2" wide and 4 1/2" deep. (runesu) |
