| Description: |
Japanese Meiji/Taisho Period bronze placque by master bronze artist Oshima Joun (1858-1940). The placque has the design of 2 carp swimming. The eyes are done in gold and shakudo. Signed JOUN SAKU on bottom left corner of placque. Beautifully designed and executed. Oshima Joun was professor at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts from 1887 until 1932. He was famous for his skill with bronze castings. He exhibited at many exhibitions throughout Europe. Comes with wooden frame. Frame has had some minor restoration. The frame measures 21 1/2" wide and is 14" tall. The bronze placque measures 10 1/8" wide and 7" tall. (rune) |
