Name: JAPANESE EARLY 20TH CENTURY LACQUER STAND FOR SAKE CUPS

Description: Japanese early 20th century lacquer stand for SAKE cups. The top of the stand has 3 slits cut into it and sits into the top of the stand. If any SAKE is spilled while pouring, the slits are meant to catch the overflow. The stand is set on 2 tall legs. The black lacquer is decorated with gold lacquer. The top has the "3 friends", pine, bamboo and plum tree painted in a landscape. the sides of the legs are done with pine trees and Japanese sacred cranes, all good luck symbols. Stand has some minor chips on the sharp edges. The stand measures 7 3/4" square on top and about 7 3/4" tall.
