Description: Japanese mid-late 19th century lacquered Kogo incense container in the shape of a incense game table. The box incorporates many of the traditional lacquering techniques such as MAKIE, NASHIJI, FUNDAME, RADEN, etc. The top has the lines of the game board done over a cloud design, floral design on front and back and vine design on the sides. The inside is done in NASHIJI with 2 clam shells done in MAKIE. The Kogo measures 2 1/8" wide, 3 1/4" long and 1 3/16" tall. (nenesu)
